Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information on the types of data we collect, how it is used, and when it may be disclosed. Subject to our Privacy Policy, this Data Request Policy outlines the types of data request applications we receive and how we respond to them.

Types of Requests

We receive the following types of request applications concerning customer data:

Data Requests

Data requests relate to client accounts involved in official criminal probes or other legal activities. Except in limited emergency conditions, we require data requests to be made through formal Indian legal processes, and Hostnetindia responds to such requests in accordance with the law. These processes include:

  • Subpoenas
  • Court Orders
  • Search Warrants
  • Legal procedures from outside India, which may require a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with India
  • Other forms of legal procedures, such as Civil Investigative Demands

Preservation Requests

A preservation request asks Hostnetindia to preserve customer account information in connection with official criminal investigations or other legal activities. Preservation requests must include:

  • Identification of the account(s) at issue (as described in the "Available Information" section below).
  • Identification of the investigating firm and/or specific pending official proceedings (requests must be signed on law enforcement letterhead).
  • Assurances that the requesting firm or individual is taking steps to obtain proper legal procedures to access the data we are asked to preserve.
  • A valid return email address and telephone number.

Emergency Requests

We accept emergency requests only in cases involving imminent danger of serious harm or death. Our team responds promptly in extremely urgent cases, always acting in good faith to maintain strong customer relationships.

Notice to Customers

Hostnetindia policy is to inform customers of requests for their data unless prohibited by statute or court order. Requests should include:

  • Full name of the customer and their email address.
  • Domain name and IP address associated with the account.

In some cases, our team may be unable to provide this information. Hostnetindia reserves the right to request a copy of the original complaint and related information.

Important Note: If you send a notice via email and do not receive a response from us, please submit a duplicate copy via paper. Due to the uncertainties of internet and email communication, including spam and spam filters, sending an alternate form of notice ensures that your request is received and acted upon promptly.

Fees

Hostnetindia may charge a fee for responding to certain requests, depending on the condition or situation. For example, R1Soft Backup costs begin at ₹1000/month for 100 GB.

Available Information

Depending on the type of formal legal process provided, our team may provide the following information in response to verified requests:

Non-Content

We may produce non-content data, such as basic subscriber information, which may include:

  • Name
  • Email addresses
  • Date and time of account creation
  • Billing information
  • IP logs

Content

We will only process client content (such as website files and email content) pursuant to a valid search warrant from an entity with proper jurisdiction.
